Testimonies

Jamila* is a Syrian mom who was left alone with 6 children after her husband was arrested for beating her. She had never worked and had no way to pay her rent. With the partnership of a local church, we were able to prevent eviction by providing rent assistance until she gained stable employment!  

Myra* is a Cuban refugee who developed a rare form of cancer. She had surgery and could not work. The threat of losing her home hindered her recovery. Clarkston Cares was able to provide her with rent assistance so she could adequately heal until she was cleared to return to work!  

Amir* is a dad of 5 and a recent refugee from Afghanistan. The wages he earns working nights in a factory barely covered his rent, so he drove coworkers to work to supplement his income. When his car broke down, he had no means to fix it, and he was struggling with bills. With donations from a local church, we were able to get his van fixed so he could support his family on his own again!  

Asia* is a single mom of a baby. She was tragically hit by a car over Christmas was at risk of losing her leg due to infection. She lost her housing during her time at the hospital. We were able to keep her safe in a hotel and help her secure a settlement from the driver who hit her! And she didn't lose her leg!
